Check out this new bakery selection --- Baklava:
Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Baklava is now available on Third Street in downtown Wausau! Our Monday Night Baker, her name is Kris, prepared this traditional Grecian dessert. This week Kris also prepared freshly-milled whole wheat muffins made with cinnamon, yogurt, walnuts and apples, and she baked whole wheat high-loft bread loaves but by the end of day on Tuesday only one loaf remained.

Now serving two everyday hot beverages:
Everyday we now serve two hot drinks to-go:
1 - Sumatra Coffee with no acidity --- Roasted locally at Three Willows in Schofield. This regular coffee is served 8 AM to 7 PM everyday since December. It's smooth tasting coffee that has converted several customers from being non-coffee drinkers into coffee drinkers. This past weekend one of those converts even mentioned that idea to Kevin, one of our store co-owners.
2 - Jamaica Red Bush (or Rooibos) Tea --- The tea is also called South African Red Tea and is a decaffinated herbal tea with big flavor, high antioxidants, and low tannins. Rooibos tea contains flavinoids, free-radical fighting antioxidants, that may be 50 times more effective than the Polyphenols found in Green Tea. Red Tea has less tannins than either black teas or green teas. Tannins contribute to the tart or astringent flavor of most black and green teas. The ingredient list for this Red Tea is truly flavorful:
- Rooibos
- Hibiscus
- Honey Bush
- Lemongrass
- Schizandra Berries
- Rosehips
- Licorice Root
- Orange Peel
- Passionfruit Flavor
- Essential Oils from Orange, Tangerine, Mango and Clove
- That's a fun combination for a tea!

Another Successful Exhibitour:
The River District again was treated to another well-attended Exhibitour Gallery Night last Friday May 18th! The streets of downtown were filled with people, conversations, and music, and recalled historic photos of our main street from the 1940's and 1950's. Maybe our downtown can be filled more often with that type of energy and activity! The next Exhibitour is September 22, 2007.
Thank you to the organizers at Wausau Area Events, Main Street Wausau, and the Center for Visual Arts; the sponsors at Wausau Daily Herald, Charter Communications and the Samuels Group; and the participating shops that were transformed multiple art galleries for one evening.
Thank you too to Paul and Suzanna Gilk whom again provided Downtown Grocery with their acoustic music. Our samples of tasty cheese bites and our fresh veggie wraps were very popular as we were just barely able to cut the cheese and wrap wraps fast enough to keep up with the flavorful demand!
Thank you, of course, to those visitors whom decided to spend a beautiful Friday socializing in our progressive downtown!
