Moonshadow
Farm is a family owned farm founded in 1990 and has been MOSA
Certified Organic since
1997. The farm operates
under the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model program, see
notes below for more details. We
grow 20 acres of 18 varieties of medicinal herbs and 10 acres of
mixed vegetables. We have 2 large greenhouses
for production of early tomatoes, peppers, cukes and summer squash,
usually with harvest beginning in mid May. We also grow winter salad
greens from Oct.
- April in the greenhouse.
Hemlock Cabin @ Moonshadow Farm
New for 2007 is the rental cabin called Hemlock Cabin, see above photos!
It's a cabin sitting on the back 40 acres at Moonshadow Farm and sleeps
a family of four or more for a relaxing
weekend with access to private cross-country ski trails! Contact Blaine, 715-675-6588 or Email: tornowherb@hotmail.com to take a tour or reserve your weekend get-away!
Moonshadow Farm and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
We sell at farm markets in central and northern Wisconsin and have a CSA (Community
Supported Agriculture) program beginning in May with 9 drop locations. We
offer 4 CSA choices: a spring greenhouse share (eggs, salad greens, early
veggies), standard and large summer shares and a winter storage share. Boxes
include a colorful mix of farm fresh vegetables, culinary herbs, eggs and
our farm newsletter. CSA Philosophy
Moonshadow Farm operates under the Community Supported Agriculture model program.
CSA is a social model that connects you to you food, the land, and those
that tend the soil. CSA is an economic model that allows you to place your
food dollar directly in the hands of a family farm, one that assures they
use organic practices. Organic agriculture respects the health and nutritional
value of your food while being friendly to our environment. Flavor, Nutrition, Local Economy
The CSA philosophy creates a food system that adopts practices that emphasize
flavor, nutrition, local economy and respect for the land. Challenges and rewards of farming
There are numerous benefits of a CSA based food system. Besides providing fresh,
organically grown produce, a CSA farm provides the non-farmer with an understanding
of the challenges and rewards of farming. Members participate in the risks
and uncertainties of farming as well as the rewards of a bountiful harvest.
Having direct contact with the land can be a spiritually and physically rewarding
experience.
