...Produced by John de Graaf, Bullfrog Films, www.bullfrogfilms.com
      ...Narrated by Meryl Streep
SUMMARY: Fairview Gardens is an urban farm in Goleta, California, right in the middle of some of the most expensive real estate in the U.S. Managed for two decades by visionary farmer/photographer/author, Michael Ableman, this 12 acre organic farm has become a model of sustainable food production and community involvement, as well as an inspiration for thousands of people all over the world.

"Beyond Organic" tells the story of this amazing farm and its long battle to survive in the face of rapid suburban development. It explores the efforts of Ableman and his staff to diversify the farm, open it to educational programs for thousands of people --- especially schoolchildren --- and defend it against angry neighbors, hostile public officials and developers eager to re-zone the land for condominiums. It draws a sharp contrast between community supported agriculture and conventional chemical farming. Fairview Gardens is now preserved as a land trust, a living source of nourishment and inspiration for the community.

"What Will We Eat?" The search for Healthy Local Food --- 26 Minutes
- Tuesday, Summer 2008, 7:00 PM [Note: to be announced soon]
- Saturday, Summer 2008, 7:00 PM [Note: to be announced soon]
...A film by Chris Bedford, www.chrisbedfordfilms.com
SUMMARY: A film that reveals the growing crisis in industrial agriculture and how a grassroots coalition of consumers and small farmers is inventing a healthy, humane, homegrown alternative. Filmed in Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, "What Will We Eat?" focuses on the success of the Sweetwater Local Foods Market in Muskegon - Michigan's first farmers market to exclusively sell local produce raised according to organic standards and products from animals raised humanely. The story is told through the voices and experiences of small farmers and their customers.

"What Will We Eat?" is a story of hope of how communities can address the expanding health problems associated with bad nutrition by developing an organic local food supply. It's a story of hope of how small farmers can prosper by growing for local consumers concerned about health, ethical values, and the environment. It's also a story of hope of how a state can grow a new sustainable economy by simply being intentional about local food grown to healthy and humane standards.

We're planning more films and we'll announce those soon!
